I feel sorry for the husband but being a (queer) woman in a society that forces/normalizes you into marrying a man and choose a conventional path like in Japan is also such a difficult thing. As we see from the flashbacks, even if Akari wasn’t in the picture, I’m sure Ayano’s relationship with her husband would not have had a happy ending anyways due to her sexuality and basically having married him due to convenience (she thought that it was the “natural” or “normal” thing to do). I feel sorry for Ayano’s husband but from the beginning their relationship as for story’s pacing it’s not meant to last whether Akari came or not because Ayano is unsure of her sexuality since high school, and Akari is meant to meet her, to wake her true self. Cheating? Yes, but if fate test you to gamble for happiness, which one will you choose? How many stories I’ve read that they chose convenience over happiness until they die unhappy for not choosing the right person they truly love.
